We are looking for an experienced Generator Technician for our Glen Ellyn, IL shop and Chicagoland area, to keep up and expand our level of experience, commitment and reliability to our customers. The position may require over 50% field service, work as well as in-shop repairs and maintenance. 

Job Summary: The Generator Tech will perform a variety of tasks; inspection, preventative, corrective maintenance and modification on Internal Combustion (IC) engines, diesel generators and other IC gaseous engines. This is a great opportunity for a knowledgeable, skilled and hardworking tech.

Responsibilities and Skills require:

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components with proper test equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs alternating current electrical systems on generators, automatic transfer switches, load bank, generator controls and engine related mechanical failures; and performs routine preventative maintenance, oil and filter changes and inspections on all generator and by-pass pumps.
  • Operates assigned service vehicle, multimeters, pressure testers, feeler gauges, power and hammer drills, pipe benders and welding tools. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of 12-24 VDC electrical systems and procedures, methods and techniques to design, install, repair and maintain generators, by-pass pumps, starters, pumps, valves, motors and gauges.
  • Knowledge of diesel, gasoline, natural gas, propane driven internal combustion engines.
  • Thorough knowledge of the proper procedures for operating, inspecting and maintaining tools and related equipment as needed to construct and maintain properties and equipment.
  • Engine repair ability to utilize a variety of shop tools and equipment to perform routine repair work of equipment.
  • Pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials up to 50 pounds with proper equipment and lifting technique
  • EGSA Certification in Internal Combustion Engines and Electro- Mechanical Systems preferred.
  • Requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Other duties as required
